Abraham Kawai'i,  Kahuna

‘All bodywork using the forearm in a rhythmic sweeping forward and back motion comes through from me.’ Kahuna Abraham Kawai’i.

Kahuna are native Hawai’ian master professionals in one or many fields. They’re the intermediary between Source and the people, trained to access and interpret signs to advise when, what and how to begin or end projects.

Kahu Abraham was born into a family of Kahuna through his paternal grandmother’s lineage. He began his Kahuna training as a young man, trained in innate awareness, the ancient way where few words were used. He was presented with or placed in situations, having then to navigate his way through self awareness.

Kahu’s natural abilities and interests were with the human body and movement as a Self evolutionary pathway. His final instructor encouraged him to develop his skills in this area.

He used Romi bodywork and his experiential knowledge of the body as a portal for change and presented the world with what is often referred to as Kahuna Bodywork and ka’alele au, ‘the Flight of the Navigator’.

The bodywork he created and taught comes out of the long gone healing temples of the Kahuna. Kahu came upon recordings of old chants that spoke of the Kahuna healing temples, awakening within him genetic memories of the temples, settings, protocol and healing systems, one being bodywork.

He spoke of temple bodywork in part as initiation into higher office, or children moving into adulthood, enabling them to take on greater responsibilities and self determination.

In essence, it was a transformative resetting of the DNA, enabling an individual to move beyond the familiar into the new without hesitation, totally present, taking the entire genetic line, those who have been, are now and those who are yet to come with them.

Kahu instructed through metaphors or Kahuna (universal) principle, extracting and translating active principles from his own culture for non Hawai’ians to know and manage themselves within their own culture.

Kahu never called it Kahuna Bodywork or Temple Style Bodywork. He called it simply Romi and spoke of particular styles,

Romi Kapa’rere - to fly from the royal altar to the stars

Romi ‘Oluea - composure, calmness, loose, release, relief

Romi ‘Oluli - flowing, flexible, waving

Romi Kealakekua - the pathway of the gods.

Each style designed to activate electric potential depending on what is ready to be moved and how well the ‘performer’ (therapist) can read and interpret the ‘script’ (the client) within motion.

Kahu passed from this earthly plane in 2004, but his contribution to the awakening of humanity to our greatest potential as self healing, self determining, self adjusting entities continues to flourish and evolve.

‘To be or not to be is not the question. What is has always been the answer. To flow and learn from an ancient essence present and to be able to walk away with the past, present and future, having it totally within our grasp.' Abraham Kawai’i, Kahuna.
